After over two years of fighting and bombing by Saudi Arabia, that supports the goverment forces against the Houthi faction, the conflict in Yemen does not seem close to a final solution. According to a report published last Monday, September 18, by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), there are approximately two million people who have abandoned their homes, but remained in Yemen. Most of these (84%), are or have been out of their homes for more than a year. Slightly less than one mililon have returned to their residences. The report also indicates that over 280,000 foreigners, mostly Ethiopians and Somalians, are still in Yemen after having abandoned their homes and activities.
In other words, more victims can be expected among civilians, along with additional internal movements and potential mass migration.
